CFOLD

The Canadian Faces of Learning Disabilities (CFOLD) is a national research initiative led by a team of experienced Canadian researchers, in partnership with Learning Disabilities Association of Canada volunteers, that will provide valuable information as to the lived experiences of individuals in Canada who have a learning disability (LD), which is currently not available at this scale.

Project Objectives

The project has four main objectives that guides the work that we do.

ONE

Obtaining Knowledge: Work with researchers to understand what we currently known about what it's like to live in Canada with learning disabilities.

TWO

Quantifying Knowledge: This part of the project involves obtaining data from current Statistics Canada surveys and creating a complimentary version for individuals with LD to complete.

THREE

Qualifying Knowledge: Looking ahead, we would like to conduct focus groups and interviews with individuals across Canada who identify as having LD to examine their lived experiences. Their stories are essential to understanding what is like to be persons with learning disabilities in Canada.

FOUR

Disseminating Knowledge: The CFOLD team is committed hare the results from this project in various formats, including summaries and/or infographics, regular updates to the website, and publishing key findings in peer-reviewed scholarly journals.
